Service Description

Join us for an afternoon in which we’ll sharpen our poetic perceptions, strengthen our receptivity to the hidden and the mysterious, and boldly allow our inner artistic intuitions to blossom. Supplies needed: Please bring along photocopies of texts—books, articles, advertisements, essays, etc.—with subject matter you are drawn to and which we will white-out, mark-up, or cut-and-paste to compose your Found Poems. If you are comfortable working on the originals of your texts, those are fine, too. Description: FOUND POETRY is a form of writing in which we compose a poem from the words, phrases, fragments, and passages of an existing text—such as articles, essays, books, even advertisements. We erase, or black out, or cut up lines to create a wholly new work from what remains. In a sense, Found Poetry is a practice of writing that allows a “way in” to your voice by finding it through the voices of others. As such, it is something of a silent and powerful collaboration. Join us for an afternoon in which you will sharpen your poetic perceptions, strengthen your receptivity to the hidden and the mysterious, and boldly allow your inner artistic intuitions to blossom. Once your poem is written, you will have the opportunity to create a visual component to complete your new work of art. *The workshops offered through The Electric Ladies Project are a special series for all those who identify as female. Please note all other workshops and coaching sessions through Pam Hefley Coaching are open to everyone.
